About Terminal X

Terminal X is building the Agentic Memory OS for Asset Managers. We already have top leading Asset Management firms in Japan as our clients, who have deployed Terminal X solutions firm-wide. We are now building our next phase of growth in Japan.

We work with leading private equity firms, hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and other institutional investors to deploy AI directly into their investment workflows.

Terminal X connects a firm's proprietary data, institutional knowledge, investment processes, and AI agents into a customized Memory layer; enabling investment teams to underwrite, conduct diligence, monitor portfolios, build valuation models, prepare IC materials, and execute other complex workflows with AI.

About the Role

We are looking for a Founding Partner, Japan to build and lead Terminal X's presence in Japan. This is a founding-market role, not a conventional sales position.

You will be responsible for establishing Terminal X as the leading AI platform for Japanese institutional investors—from opening relationships with senior executives and investment professionals to shaping strategic deployments and building the Japan GTM organization.

The ideal candidate is someone who already has deep relationships across Japan's financial ecosystem and understands how major Japanese institutions make investment, technology, and strategic decisions.

You should be equally comfortable sitting across the table from a CEO, CIO, Head of Alternatives, Managing Director, Head of Digital Transformation, Head of AI as you are working with our product and engineering teams to translate their needs into an AI deployment.

This role is particularly well suited for a senior Japanese financial-services executive who has spent significant time in the Tokyo office of a global financial institution or Japanese local financial conglomerate company and has developed a deep network across Japanese asset managers, banks, insurers, pensions, sovereign institutions, and alternative investment firms.

You will have significant autonomy to define the Japan strategy, build the initial customer base, and ultimately build the team around you.

What You Will Own

Build Terminal X Japan

●      Establish Terminal X's presence and reputation across Japan's institutional investment ecosystem

●      Develop and execute the Japan market strategy in partnership with the Founder & global leadership team

●      Build relationships with senior decision-makers across asset managers, PE/VC firms, hedge funds, insurers, banks, pensions, and other institutional investors

●      Create and manage a high-value strategic pipeline from initial relationship through enterprise deployment

●      Represent Terminal X in senior-level meetings, industry events, conferences, and institutional forums

●      Identify where Terminal X can create the highest-value AI transformation opportunities within each institution

Drive Strategic Enterprise Deployments

●      Lead conversations with CIOs, CEOs, investment heads, and senior technology executives

●      Understand complex investment workflows and identify opportunities where AI can materially change how teams operate

●      Shape strategic pilots and enterprise deployments alongside Terminal X's Finance FDE and engineering teams

●      Translate institutional requirements into actionable product and deployment priorities

●      Own the commercial relationship from initial engagement through expansion

●      Develop multi-year strategic relationships rather than transactional software sales

Build the Japan Network

●      Leverage your existing relationships to create introductions to Japan's leading financial institutions

●      Develop relationships across Japanese PE firms, asset managers, banks, insurers, pension funds, sovereign institutions, and family offices

●      Build trusted relationships with senior investment professionals and technology leadership

●      Become a recognized voice for AI transformation in Japanese institutional finance

Build the Team

As Terminal X Japan scales, you will help recruit and develop the local organization across:

●      Enterprise sales

●      Finance Forward-Deployed Engineering

●      Customer success

●      Strategic partnerships

●      Japan market operations

You will have the opportunity to build the Japan business from its earliest stage and shape the team, culture, and operating model.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

●      Japanese national with native-level Japanese and deep familiarity with Japanese business culture and institutional decision-making

●      10+ years of professional experience, ideally within financial services, technology, consulting, or enterprise B2B

●      Deep relationships with senior executives and decision-makers across Japan's financial-services ecosystem

●      Demonstrated ability to originate and develop senior-level institutional relationships

●      Strong executive presence and exceptional communication skills

●      Business-fluent English and the ability to work directly with global teams and HQ

●      Strong understanding of Japanese institutional investors and how they evaluate technology, investment products, and strategic initiatives

●      High degree of ownership, judgment, and entrepreneurial drive

●      Comfortable operating without an established playbook and building a market from scratch

Exceptional Fit

Experience at firms such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Citi, BlackRock, Blackstone, KKR, Apollo, Brookfield, Carlyle, or other leading global financial institutions is highly relevant.

Experience as a Principal / Director or equivalent seniority at a global financial institution's Tokyo office would be particularly compelling.

Over time, you will have the opportunity to become the leader of Terminal X's Japan business (Head of Japan), with responsibility for the market, revenue, strategic accounts, partnerships, and local organization.

Compensation

·       Base Salary: ¥18M–¥25M

·       Target Total Cash Compensation (OTE): ¥30M–¥45M

·       Stock Options, amount depending on seniority

Compensation includes a performance-based variable component with meaningful upside for exceeding targets.
